SNOWBIRD SUNG BY STEPHEN HARDY PALMER
Pure Canadiana, SNOWBIRD was written by Gene MacLellan while living on Prince Edward Island. Wikipedia says he was inspired "while watching a flock of snow buntings on the beach". In 1970 his good friend Anne Murray made SNOWBIRD an international hit and went on to record several more of Gene's songs. Gene's daughter, Catherine MacLellan is also a fine songwriter, carrying on in her Dad's tradition. My STEPHEN HARDY PALMER website - www.spmusic.ca - has lots of info on my own music and some upcoming tour information too. Please don't forget to Subscribe!
Did She Mention My Name
CANADIANA SERIES -- Gordon Lightfoot's 'Did She Mention My Name?' Simple guitar and vocal live performance straight from my living room of an old favourite. (All of Gord's are my favourites. Like Bob Dylan said "when you hear a Lightfoot song, you just don't want it to end") It makes a nice opener for my live Canadiana shows.

CIRCLE GAME sung by STEPHEN HARDY PALMER
Joni Mitchell's Canadiana Classic recorded live in my living room. 'Circle Game' was written by Joni for her friend Neil Young way back in 1966 and first recorded by fellow Canadians Ian & Sylvia and Buffy Ste Marie. American singer Tom Rush also had a popular version. In 1970 Joni Mitchell included her own version on the album 'Ladies of the Canyon'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Circle_Game_(song) Info on my own STEPHEN HARDY PALMER music can be found at www.spmusic.ca PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
'SOMEDAY SOON' SUNG BY STEPHEN HARDY PALMER
CANADIANA CLASSIC 'SOMEDAY SOON' was written by Ian Tyson and recorded by 'Ian & Sylvia (Sylvia Fricker/Tyson) on their 1964 album 'NORTHERN JOURNEY'. I got this album for Christmas 1964 and I played it non stop! Someday Soon has been covered many times - Judy Collins' version was a big hit in 1968, Moe Bandy had a country hit in 1980 (reversing the gender in the lyrics!), and Suzy Boguss had an even bigger hit in 1991. Ian Tyson named his new barn 'The Suzy Boguss Memorial Arena' when the first royalty checks came in from her version.
